Virginia Tucker

In this selection Virginia Tucker explains how Salt Lake’s YWCA began offering yoga very soon after its arrival in the united states, and how she became the yoga instructor for over 100 people eventually doing outreach in communities from Murray to Bountiful.

1965 — Photograph shows yoga instruction at the YWCA. The new yoga program was introduced in 1965 by Mr. Bala Krishna, who gave the Hatha Yoga training course. He was photographed with Mrs. Leo (Carolee) Kelly. Yoga became one of the most popular classes for women at the YWCA.
