Virginia Tucker

Virginia Tucker tells about teaching classes for children and young adults in the summers at the YWCA.

c.1950 — This newspaper photograph shows women in a YWCA pottery class. The society pages of the newspapers were often filled with the happenings of the YWCA of Salt Lake City in the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s. Within the YWCA and from outside observers, the YWCA was occasionally criticized during this time as an organization “for middle class women who had leisure time and could afford to participate”. (At ceramic wheels: Mrs. Douglas B. Cooper and Mrs. John W. Morgan. Looking on is Mrs. Robert Gordon, Mrs. LVC Smith, and Mrs. John F. Williams)
