Virginia Tucker

Virginia Tucker describes the celebration held by the YWCA for tiling the swimming pool when she was 12 years old.

c.1930 — Photograph shows an elaborate carnival held at the YWCA to celebrate the newly tiled pool and new dressing rooms. Swimming was a very popular pastime in the 1930’s. The pool was built in 1919 and continued to provide a place for women and children to swim for over 80 years. The YWCA opened one of the first indoor heated pools in Utah. Identified in the photograph are: Virginia Doelle, Mrs. Burt, Alice Oakes Bronson, and Ellen Jackson.
